Summary

Payne:

In search of: room to rent。

Must ignore the patheticness of a forty-year-old roommate。

Preferably dirt cheap as funds are tight (nonexistent)。

There’s nothing sadder than moving back to my hometown newly divorced, homeless, and lost for what my next move is。

When my little brother’s best friend offers me a place to stay in exchange for menial duties, I swallow my pride and jump at the offer。

I need this。

I also need Beau to wear a shirt。 And ditch the gray sweatpants。 And not leave his door ajar when he’s in compromising positions 。。。

Beau:

In search of: roommate。

Must be non smoker and non douchebag。

Room payment to be made in meal planning, repairs, and dumb jokes。

Since my career took off, I barely have time to breathe, let alone keep my life in order。 I’m naturally chaotic, make terrible decisions, and scare off potential dates with my “weirdness”。

So when Payne gets back into town and needs somewhere to stay, I offer him my spare room with one condition: while he’s staying with me, I need him to help me become date-able。

And while he does that, I can focus on my other plan: ignoring that Payne is the only man I’ve ever wanted to date。

Payne found out his husband of 12 years has been cheating so he leaves to his brothers house in his home town and ends up moving in with beau his brothers best friend。 Beau is only 4 years younger and has been in love with Payne since he was a teenager so when Payne moves in he hopes this is his chance but can his weird writing habits put him off mm romance 5⭐️

If you want a sappy love story, with no action at all, this is it。 Normally I don't read books like that but this one really kept my attention。 If you want a sappy love story, with no action at all, this is it。 Normally I don't read books like that but this one really kept my attention。 。。。more

Happy!!Beau and Payne were really great… they are my definition of couple goals!I really liked that they were just themselves, they both had flaws and baggage, but they just accepted that of each other and moved forward anyway。Payne was a bit more cautious than Beau, who was unashamedly ‘all in’, but one Payne figured it out it was full steam ahead and a fantastic read!!I look forward to reading other books in this series!

Ahhh love love love! The relationship between them was so freaking cute and I LOVE Payne and Beau cuz they’re characters were just amazing。 The DMC guys and their banter was amazing。 Payne is just so laid-back and pure hearted and fun and amazing and Beau is a perfectly un-normal writer who just buzzed with energy and has always loved Payne❤️

It was a sweet yet funny and poignant story of Payne and Beau’s journey that revolves around unrequited love, evolving friendships and love!A soon to be divorced Payne had no idea his brother’s best friend Beau had always had a crush on him until they become roommates and friends who kiss, friends who sleep together…。just friends right?I loved it although this book got mixed reviews and DNFs it still gripped me from start to finish so each to it’s own!

So sweet, so clueless, not too much angst。 Loved it!

Addictively entertaining, steamy, and heartwarming!I loved getting to know Payne and Beau—they’re both such interesting, quirky, and authentic characters。 Their story was fun and heartwarming to read, and I blew through this book so quickly! My only issue is that I would have liked to learn more about both characters, where they’re coming from, where they’ve been, and their motivations。 Although we do see some character development and growth for both men, we learn virtually nothing about their Addictively entertaining, steamy, and heartwarming!I loved getting to know Payne and Beau—they’re both such interesting, quirky, and authentic characters。 Their story was fun and heartwarming to read, and I blew through this book so quickly! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫BR with my girl Cass。I’ve never been a huge fan of tennis。 Watching a ball bounce back and forth, left to right。 It’s all just so monotonous。 So, you can imagine when characters go back and forth over the same subject over and and over again。 That it’s not my particular cup of tea。 Yeah yeah! We get it! Beau deserves better but guess what?! All he’s ever wanted was you! So why not let him decide。 Especially since you’ve admitted to yourself that you want to be the man that Beau needs。 I’m ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫BR with my girl Cass。I’ve never been a huge fan of tennis。 Watching a ball bounce back and forth, left to right。 It’s all just so monotonous。 So, you can imagine when characters go back and forth over the same subject over and and over again。 That it’s not my particular cup of tea。 Yeah yeah! Alright, now that that’s out of the way, here’s what I liked。 I loved Beau, at times he drove me nuts but that only added to how adorable he is。 I love that he builds forts and wants to color Payne’s tattoos。 He’s scatterbrained and free and the only thing holding him together are his hopes and dreams。 Payne thinks he doesn’t have a lot to offer Beau but he’s his glue。 He makes his life better plus he makes Beau a better man。 More confident and willing to step outside of his very small box。 They are so cute together but especially with the nieces。 I’d love to watch them play hard and spoil those girls rotten。 Don’t even get me started on the sex。 It took a hot minute to get there, but once that line was crossed they were all in。 And it was hot as hell!! Overall we had to jump through far too many hoops but we ended up with something as sweet as it was salacious。 。。。more

Great read。Payne finds out his husband is cheating on him by fucking other men on his only fans account。 In rage, he breaks his laptop blocks his number, gathers his things and goes to stay with his brother and his family back in their hometown。Beau is Paynes brother's best friend and an author who has quirky tendencies。 He also has crushed on Payne since high-school, going on 20 years。 He has a spare room and offers it to Payne so he doesn't have to sleep in a twin bed with his neices。 In excha Great read。Payne finds out his husband is cheating on him by fucking other men on his only fans account。 In rage, he breaks his laptop blocks his number, gathers his things and goes to stay with his brother and his family back in their hometown。Beau is Paynes brother's best friend and an author who has quirky tendencies。 He also has crushed on Payne since high-school, going on 20 years。 He has a spare room and offers it to Payne so he doesn't have to sleep in a twin bed with his neices。 In exchange Payne is to help him clean up and tell him about his weirdness so he can work on improving himself to find a himself a boyfriend。Payne doesn't see any of Beaus quirks as something he needs to change and he starts liking Beau but he's newly separated and doesn't think it's fair to want Beau and potentially hurt him。Beau although in love with Payne, doesn't mind that they keep hooking up。 He wants Payne anyway he can。Payne starts working at a garage even tho he's an ex pe coach, he still needs work。 But his desire is to work with kids。 They find land and goes on to lease it to build a summer program in their touristy town。Payne gets divorced and asks Beau to be his even if they can never get married。 So cute。 。。。more

BR with my girl Debbie。⭐⭐⭐My choice this time and for me this one was just OK。Beau has been in love with Payne since he was a teen。 Payne has just broken up with his husband and returned to his hometown, moving in with Beau as a roommate, ostensibly to help him just be a bit more organised。 And Beau wants him to help him be more normal so he can successfully date。 Payne is pretty down about himself, understandable given how his husband fucked him over。 There's some feeling from him for Beau but, BR with my girl Debbie。⭐⭐⭐My choice this time and for me this one was just OK。Beau has been in love with Payne since he was a teen。 Payne has just broken up with his husband and returned to his hometown, moving in with Beau as a roommate, ostensibly to help him just be a bit more organised。 And Beau wants him to help him be more normal so he can successfully date。 Payne is pretty down about himself, understandable given how his husband fucked him over。 There's some feeling from him for Beau but, again understandably, he feels its too soon for him to act on them。There's some cute moments (like when Beau colours in his tattoos) but soooo much back and forth with how much Beau doesn't deserve him。 And no。 I think Beau did deserve more。 And yes, I do think you took him for granted。 And Lee? wtf was that even there for? If he was actually a contender in the dating stakes, it would have made sense - like Beau actually had a choice。 But he didn't。 He loved Payne。 End。 of。 Story。 Lee didn't have to be (view spoiler)[a douche (hide spoiler)]。 It just wasn't necessary and I felt like that detracted from the story。Nonetheless, once they got hot and heavy, it was hot and heavy!!!Sadly, not enough for me to go on with the series though。 。。。more

really goodI want to preface by saying if you're having your own relationship issues, this might be a tough read, especially at first。 That said, Beau and Payne are sugar and fire together。 This was an entertaining story with some past relationship angst and all the feels。 really goodI want to preface by saying if you're having your own relationship issues, this might be a tough read, especially at first。 That said, Beau and Payne are sugar and fire together。 This was an entertaining story with some past relationship angst and all the feels。 。。。more

Amazing Near Fourth Wall StuffI'm halfway through and noticed some mentioning of self publishing and niche work and a mention on one of my favourite things to know exists without understanding。 I don't mind the pacing, one main character is kind of a jerk but in a cute way that I think they'll get past once they're in a better situation。 The other is super anxious, and trying to be better but gets anxious and doesn't fix a lot。 Which they don't seem to need to as they're functioning well enough。 Amazing Near Fourth Wall StuffI'm halfway through and noticed some mentioning of self publishing and niche work and a mention on one of my favourite things to know exists without understanding。 I don't mind the pacing, one main character is kind of a jerk but in a cute way that I think they'll get past once they're in a better situation。 The other is super anxious, and trying to be better but gets anxious and doesn't fix a lot。 Which they don't seem to need to as they're functioning well enough。 Their only real distress seems to be worrying they're annoying others, which is super relatable, and a nice touch I think。 。。。more

Nope。 Too boring。 Why do authors write the mundane details of every day living。 “I went to Boston and I worked out my notice。 I did not need to go back to the flat。 So and so looked like this… had dark hair。 Or had wrinkles or blah blah blah… So and so looked like this and had one son。 “So many details。 Nothing to do with main characters。 And when the two heroes meet。 It’s like just some ordinary meeting between two acquaintances。 No chemistry。 The main character is a boring idiot。 Did not finis Nope。 Too boring。 Why do authors write the mundane details of every day living。 “I went to Boston and I worked out my notice。 I did not need to go back to the flat。 So and so looked like this… had dark hair。 Or had wrinkles or blah blah blah… So and so looked like this and had one son。 “So many details。 Nothing to do with main characters。 And when the two heroes meet。 It’s like just some ordinary meeting between two acquaintances。 No chemistry。 The main character is a boring idiot。 Did not finish。 No thanks。 。。。more

This book was charming and sweet。 After reading a few series that are dark (to put it mildly), I'm looking forward to more novels because this love story just made me smile。 Saxon James did an amazing job with Beau's character。 He could have come off as campy or cliché or one of those characters that authors create because they are trying SO HARD to show you how tough it is to be [insert characteristic]。 Here, though, Beau felt like an adorably creative person/genius who just happened to have a This book was charming and sweet。 After reading a few series that are dark (to put it mildly), I'm looking forward to more novels because this love story just made me smile。 Saxon James did an amazing job with Beau's character。 He could have come off as campy or cliché or one of those characters that authors create because they are trying SO HARD to show you how tough it is to be [insert characteristic]。 Here, though, Beau felt like an adorably creative person/genius who just happened to have a ton of people in his life who didn't get him。 Until, of course, Payne。 Easygoing, heartbroken Payne。 The bit about letting Beau color in his tattoos was writing genius。 It managed to be cute and hot and caring all at the same time。 I also loved the bits where Payne would find Beau acting something out because he was testing scenes for his book。 The idea of actually staging a swordfight or a sheet-ladder getaway to make sure it would work was so entertaining to me and I just loved how Payne went with it。 So many romance novels use sex as the way you find your person, but this one focused more on finding someone who really just accepts you for who you are (although don't get me wrong, there's steamy scenes and they're great)。 Highly recommend。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was pleasantly surprised by this book。 Desperate to get out of a reading slump and packing for a trip, I was looking for a book that I could read on my kindle that would occupy my trip and hopefully get me out of my slump。 This book did that! DNF @ 19%。Payne is completely uninspiring。 I have no interest in this cardboard cutout character。 I also hate group chats (or any lengthy text exchange) in books, so having that’s the straw that broke this camel’s back。
